Munster: Foley demands consistency

Anthony Foley has challenged Munster to maintain a high standard of performance into 2015 after seeing off reigning Pro12 champions Leinster on Boxing Day.

Head coach Foley was handed some extra festive cheer on Friday as Munster recorded their first league double over Leinster in six years.

Tries from CJ Stander, Andrew Conway and Dave O'Callaghan plus a near-impeccable kicking performance from Ian Keatley did the damage as they inflicted a 28-13 defeat on their opponents.

The result leaves them third in the table, three points behind league leaders Ospreys.

Next up is a trip to face fellow Irish side Connacht on New Year's Day and Foley admitted his side had set the bar high for themselves.

"It was the manner in which they played the game, the way we took the result," he told the Irish Independent.

"Many teams, if they have a few bad results, the injuries we have, they can go into their shell.

"It was the opposite for the boys, they came out and went after the game from minute one.

"The one thing I'll hit them with is that I want it consistently from them.

"We want more, you want to be selfish around those performances. When they play with that intensity, physicality . . . that's what I like to see from Munster teams, ruthless.

"We want it again next week. It will be hard to come by, but that's the standard."
