Munster lose O'Connell for semi

Munster have been dealt a massive blow ahead of their Pro 12 semifinal clash with Ospreys, with the news that Paul O’Connell won’t be fit.

O’Connell and Damien Varley have both been ruled out of Friday’s match after picking up injures in last weekend’s victory over Ulster.

O’Connell injured his left knee and is expected to be sidelined for four to six weeks, while Varley suffered an ankle sprain but would be in consideration for the final should Munster win on Friday.

Ronan O’Gara who has been out of action since sustaining a leg injury in the Heineken Cup quarterfinal against Ulster, is expected to train on Wednesday and could be named in the squad for the semifinal.
