One week for Treviso repeat offender
Benetton Treviso loose forward Manoa Vosawai has been given a one-week ban after having accumulated three yellow cards in the Pro12 this season.
An independent Pro12 disciplinary committee, chaired by Robert Williams, assisted by Russell Howell and Roger Morris (all Wales), having listened to the player’s explanation of the three yellow cards, imposed the suspension.
In deciding to impose a suspension, the committee noted that all three yellow cards had been given for technical offences following general warnings by the referee but also noted the player’s previous record for similar offences.
Meanwhile Aironi loose forward Gilberto Pavan appeared before a disciplinary committee chaired by Roger Morris, alongside Robert Williams and Russell Howell (all Wales), in respect of a citing from the match against Leinster on March 2.
Pavan admitted that he had committed an act of foul play, in contravention of Law 10.4(j). The disciplinary committee accordingly upheld the citing and imposed a suspension of three weeks, having found the offence to have been at the low end of the scale of offending but, in recognising the need for a deterrent added a further two weeks before allowing mitigation for Pavan’s previous good disciplinary record and his guilty plea. Pavan is free again to play on Wednesday, March 28.
