Pumas prop heads to Glasgow
Glasgow Warriors have signed Argentina tighthead prop German Araoz on a three-month contract as vital front row cover.
Glasgow moved for Araoz after seeing Ed Kalman, Moray Low, Jon Welsh and Pat MacArthur all ruled out for several weeks.
The 27-year-old, capped by the Pumas earlier this year, will not be immediately available for European Cup action.
But Glasgow head coach Gregor Townsend, whose side play Ulster on Friday, believes he will prove a significant addition to the squad during his brief stay.
"We're very happy to be bringing on board another international prop at what is an intense juncture in the season," Townsend told the club's website.
"German is a strong scrummager and tackler who will give us an additional option in an area of the team where we have sustained a significant number of injuries.
"(Tonga loosehead) Ofa Fainga'anuku has given us a boost by coming in and hitting the ground running, making an immediate impression, and we're looking forward to working with German to help him do likewise."
Araoz added: "I'm delighted to have the opportunity to join a major European club like Glasgow Warriors.
"I've been really impressed by the facilities at Scotstoun, and I can't wait to get out on the training pitch with the rest of the squad to stake a claim for selection."
