Season over for Steenkamp

De Kock Steenkamp has been ruled out of action until 2015 after seeing a specialist for his Achilles tendon injury which, fortunately, won't require surgery.

The South African second row forward sustained the injury within a week of his arrival at the region, and after taking expert medical opinion, Medical Performance Manager, Chris Towers, was able to confirm the diagnosis.

"De Kock suffered a ruptured achilles.

"It is a significant injury but, fortunately, he doesn't require surgery. We are looking at a best case scenario of a six month rehab period, but there is no reason why he shouldn't make a full recovery from this injury,” said Towers.

The formers Stormers man moved to Wales at the culmination of the Super Rugby season after signing with the Ospreys.
