According the Southern Kings statement,Western Province coach John Dobson agreed to release the 25-year-old as a short-term replacement following a concussion to Gareth Heidtmann, who started in the No2 jersey in the first match in Windhoek on Saturday.

The Port Elizabeth-based side is without Tango Balekile, who is undergoing rehabilitation for a foot injury, while new recruit Jacques du Toit will only join the side from the Free State Cheetahs after the Currie Cup final.

Loose-forward and captain for the first match against the Welwetschias, Lusanda Badiyana, and loosehead prop, Cameron Dawson, have returned home with an elbow and foot injury, respectively.

Xandre Vos has been added to the squad in Namibia to provide cover at loosehead prop, together with scrumhalf, Josh Allderman, whom interim Head Coach Robbi Kempson will look to give some time to build depth at No.9.

The squad also welcomed Elrigh Louw, who was released early by the Cheetahs to join the side in Walvis Bay. The 20-year-old who was part of the 2019 Junior Boks team will be providing lock and loose-forward cover.

It was also confirmed that wing, Christian Ambadiang, who was stretchered off the field on Saturday, had sustained a knee injury and would be returning to home where he will see a specialist.
