Stringer staying with Bath

Ireland scrumhalf Peter Stringer will remain with Bath for the remainder of the current season.

Munster confirmed the news in a statement on Tuesday, saying: "Following discussion between Munster and Bath and with the player’s representative, it has been agreed that Peter Stringer will remain with the Premiership club for the remainder of the current season.

“Stringer (35) joined Bath in January when the opportunity to play first team rugby consistently for Munster wasn’t forthcoming and as that situation still pertains, all parties are happy for that arrangement to continue."

Meanwhile, Munster have welcomed the outcome of a case involving Danny Barnes over a hotel incident in 2008. A High Court action against the player was struck out and settled without admission of liability.

Responding to the outcome Garrett Fitzgerald CEO Munster Rugby said: “We’re happy the case has finally been settled. We’ve always had confidence in the integrity of Danny Barnes and were equally satisfied with his account of events that night and satisfied now that the charges brought against Danny and Munster have been struck out.”
