Surgery for Hibbard

Hooker Richard Hibbard looks set to join the list of high-profile players who will miss Wales' tour to South Africa in June.

It was confirmed on Friday that Hibbard is likely to miss the rest of the season, after undergoing surgery on his shoulder.

It means the hooker, who is moving to Gloucester in the off-season, is likely to have played his final game for the Ospreys.

Chris Towers, the Medical Performance Manager at the Ospreys, said the shoulder had been troubling the player for some time.

"After returning to the region [Ospreys] this week he felt unable to continue playing," Towers said.

"It is in his best interests to get this issue resolved and he will undergo surgery on Friday.

"The expected minimum recovery time for such a procedure means it is unlikely he will play again between now and the end of the season."

Wales captain Sam Warburton is also set to miss the rest of the European season and the tour of South Africa, after suffering a suspected dislocated shoulder in his country's final Six Nations encounter – with Scotland.
