Ulster Kiss Director of rugby goodbye

The Australian, who was appointed as Ulster Rugby Director in 2015, will leave his post with immediate effect.

Kiss was appointed Ireland defence coach in 2008 has helped the national side secure three Six Nations titles, however, his recent reign with Ulster have been clouded with disappointment.

The Province failed to reach the Champions Cup quarter-finals and missed out on a Pro12, now Pro14, playoffs in 2017.

His contract was scheduled to run until 2019.

Ulster confirmed Kiss' departure via a statement, which read: "Ulster Rugby can confirm that Les Kiss will be leaving his post as Director of Rugby by mutual consent, effective immediately.

"Ulster Rugby would like to thank Les for his commitment and wish him well in his future career.

"Head Coach, Jono Gibbes, will assume responsibility for all coaching matters and will lead the current coaching team of Dwayne Peel, Aaron Dundon and Niall Malone. A review will be conducted to ascertain if additional coaching expertise is required.

"Operations Director, Bryn Cunningham, will manage the off-field operations of the professional team.
