Warriors banking on SA import

The return of inspirational South African back row forward Josh Strauss will have a big impact for the Glasgow Warriors ahead of their 1872 Cup clash with Edinburgh, according to Warriors forward coach Shade Munro.

In last week's Scotstoun clash between the two sides Glasgow came out on top 23-14, taking a nine-point lead into the Murrayfield return fixture and also moving into the Pro12 play-off places.

And Munro admits having Strauss back in the side, after missing last week's clash to get married back in South Africa, is a huge boost in the absence of the injured Chris Fusaro.

Munro told the Scotsman: "It is testament to the strength of squad we have got that we can bring players in. Josh Strauss coming back from getting married is a big one because he is a big ball-carrying forward.

"If you had a real in-form player you would stick with him, but the way we play and the way we train, the competition for places demands that we make these changes. That way we keep everybody on their toes.

"If you play at the top of your game then you will keep your place but there are lots of players knocking at the door all the time and it is good to keep it fresh."
