Warriors hit the bonus

Flying wing DTH Van der Merwe was at the double for Glasgow Warriors as they recorded their first ever PRO12 victory at Scotstoun by beating Connacht 27-17.

The Canadian crossed twice in the second half to add to efforts from Sean Lamont and Peter Murchie and hand Warriors a try bonus point in the process.

Connacht scored a try in either half from wing Mark McCrea and prop Nathan White but were always chasing their hosts who were after their maiden home win since moving from Firhill.

The game was preceded by an impeccably observed minute's silence in remembrance of Ulster player Nevin Spence and his father Noel and brother Graham who tragically died last weekend in a farming accident.

Ospreys 23-16 Scarlets

Late tries from Ryan Jones and Hanno Dirksen gave the Ospreys their first PRO12 win of the season as the Scarlets were made to rue Rhys Priestland's poor kicking in a 23-16 defeat at Parc Y Scarlets.

The Scarlets had won three out of three coming into the game despite Priestland's struggles from the kicking tee but in a ferocious derby they were made to pay for his inaccuracy.

Where the Scarlets came into the match in scintillating form, the Ospreys had endured a nightmare start to the campaign and lay second bottom of the PRO12.

However a Welsh derby was always going to bring the best out of the visitors and thanks to the efforts of second-half replacement Jones, who went over off the back of maul, and Dirksen, they finally got that first win under their belts.
