Flo rejoins Boks as All Blacks looms

TEAM UPDATE: Experienced flank Francois ‘Flo’ Louw has rejoined the Springbok squad in Pretoria ahead of the final Rugby Championship match against the All Blacks on Saturday.

Louw returned to his Premiership side Bath just after the Springboks’ 36-34 win over New Zealand.

The flank missed last weekend’s 23-12 win over the Wallabies in Port Elizabeth.

Louw’s return is good news for the Springboks, especially with No.8 Warren Whiteley recent groin niggle he picked up during training, Stormers Sikhumbuzo Notshe took up the Lions captain’s place in the starting XV during last weekend’s win at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

Whiteley is being monitored and is expected to pass a fitness test on Tuesday.

“Warren has done some rehab and we will give him some time to do very specific recovery work. By Tuesday, we should make a decision if he is playing or not playing this weekend,” Springboks assistant coach Matt Proudfoot told reporters at the press conference.

If Whiteley is passed fit, the forwards may be unchanged from that which beat the All Blacks in New Zealand.

Meanwhile, Siyamthanda Kolisi and his Springbok teammates started with their match preparations on Monday in the South African capital city.

Rassie Erasmus, the SA Rugby Director of Rugby, will announce his match-23 on Thursday.
