Steyn is back in action
Springbok centre Frans Steyn chances of playing against the Wallabies look better after he responded well to treatment on his injured right ankle.
The powerful centre went for x-rays on Monday evening and after making good progress on Tuesday will be able to train with the team on Wednesday.
Steyn injured his ankle during a warm-up drill on Monday morning and sat out training on Tuesday.
"The x-rays were clear and the swelling has settled nicely. We're hoping to get him to do some training on Wednesday," said Springbok team doctor Craig Roberts.
Three more players did not train with the squad on Tuesday, and will be managed accordingly. They are lock Flip van der Merwe (calf), flank Jacques Potgieter (groin) and wing Lwazi Mvovo (hamstring).
A final call on the availability of these four players for Saturday’s Test will be made later in the week.
The three other players who did not train on Monday were back on the field on Tuesday – props Tendai Mtawarira (stomach bug) and Coenie Oosthuizen (muscle stiffness) and flyhalf Johan Goosen (bruised heel).
