BlitzBoks drawn with log leaders for Perth SVNS
NEWS: The South African BlitzBoks have been drawn in Pool A with log leaders Argentina alongside Canada and Spain for the Third Round of the HSBC SVNS that kicks off in Perth on January 26.
The pool draws took place in Perth on Thursday, January 11.
The BlitzBoks had a disappointing weekend at the Cape Town SVNS in December where they lost 7-31 to New Zealand in the fifth place playoff.
Earlier, they also lost 0- 28 to Australia in the quarterfinal after finishing second in their pool on Saturday.
Before that they won the HSBC SVNS in Dubai in fine fashion.
The South African Sevens team is on the hunt to qualify for the Olympic Games in Paris this week. They will have to beat all-comers at Stade Louis II in Monaco from June 21-23 to earn their Olympic ticket in the final World Rugby Sevens Repechage.
The Blitzboks will face amongst other regulars HSBC SVNS teams Canada, Great Britain and Spain, with Brazil, Chile, China, Hong Kong China, Mexico, Papua New Guinea, Tonga and Uganda the other contestants.

The men’s SVNS title race in Perth is wide open with Argentina the current standing leaders after claiming gold in Cape Town and silver in Dubai, however South Africa, Fiji, New Zealand, Ireland and hosts Australia all sit within six points of each other.
Australia are drawn in a competitive looking pool B with Ireland, Great Britain and USA. Meanwhile Olympic champions Fiji will play reigning Series title holders New Zealand alongside France and Samoa in a very strong looking pool C.
