Following a narrow loss in the Bronze Medal Final of the Los Angeles leg last weekend, Tim Walsh has opted to retain a majority of the squad with Tim Anstee the only addition.

Following a successful return from injury, Anstee will take to the field for the first time since the Singapore leg of the 2019 Sevens World Series, adding size to the Australian forward pack as they look to go one better in Canada.

Australia will again tackle Scotland, Samoa and USA in Pool D as the side vies for valuable World Series points as they continue their march towards the Tokyo Olympic Games.

Australia Sevens Head Coach, Tim Walsh said: “After missing out on a podium finish last week there is a real hunger within the squad to go one better in Vancouver.

“After a pretty lengthy injury Tim returns to the team in great physical condition. Despite being young he is an experienced 7s player and brings a physical dominance balanced with deceiving speed. We are very pleased to see Tim back in gold and playing in Vancouver.

“Much like last weekend we’re looking to go out and make a statement, especially as we draw closer to the Olympics its important to continue to build on strong performances so we can hit the ground running in Tokyo.”

Australia Sevens squad: Nick Malouf (captain), Joe Pincus, Lachlan Anderson, Tim Anstee, Henry Hutchison, Dylan Pietsch, Maurice Longbottom, Stu Dunbar, Josh Turner, Lewis Holland, Lachlan Miller, Trae Williams, Rod Davies.
