HK Reaction

The best reaction from Day One at the Hong Kong Sevens tournament.

Gordon Tietjens, New Zealand coach: "France played pretty well, they came out firing just after half time and scored a couple of good tries. Every one lifts their game here, and they were very tough to beat. We look at DJ Forbes, Lote Raikabula and Tim Mikkelson, and we will need that experience here.

Mike Friday, Kenya coach: "It is not about rebuilding confidence after USA Sevens, we have it, but sometimes it isn't there. You say that was the easy one in our pool, but we have a very physical group and so it is good to go into day two with a win."

Dai Rees, Hong Kong coach, after defeat to Fiji: "Fiji did it, we made seven mistakes, they scored seven tries. We were overawed, and we have to grow up now overnight. We lick our wounds and we will be a different team tomorrow."

Bruce Hobson, Zimbabwe team manager: "We have been working hard since early January. We have high expectations, we raised the level in Harare a few weeks ago and we must be pleased with that win."

Tyronie Howe, Jamaica captain, after Hong Kong debut: "We had a slow start as usual.  We have speed and agility which we didn't use in the first half. Hopefully we can start right on top tomorrow. Second half, we started better, we tend to crack under pressure, which is what happened in the first half."
