Hunt blow for BlitzBokke

BltzBok Steven Hunt underwent surgery to his left foot on Monday in Cape Town after suffering a fracture at training last week and will be out of action for at least six weeks.

The injury will rule him out of the next two rounds of the Sevens World Series tournaments in the Far East.

Meanwhile, Justin Geduld has recovered from the hamstring strain he picked up in Wellington, meaning that apart from Hunt, Blitzboks coach Neil Powell has a fit squad to choose from for the Far East tournaments.

Powell will announce his 12-man squad on Wednesday, and the tour party will depart for Hong Kong on Saturday from Cape Town.

The Hong Kong Sevens in China will be played over three days from March 27 to March 29 and this will be followed a week later by the Tokyo Sevens in Japan (April 4 to 5).

Last year South Africa won the Plate Final in Hong Kong after going down in the quarterfinals and they will be determined to improve on that result this season.

South Africa, who are the current World Series leaders, are the top seeds in Pool C in Hong Kong, which also consists of France, Argentina and Japan.
