Seven new faces for Kenya Sevens

Kenya have included seven new players in their 12-man squad for the World Cup Sevens which starts in Moscow later this week.

The squad includes four survivors from the side that reached the World Cup semifinals in Dubai four years ago.

The inclusion includes wing William Ambaka, one of the nominees for the IRB Sevens Player of the Year, and flank Oscar Ouma – two stand out players in Kenya's campaign in the world series this season, which saw them finish fifth.

"Our men are raring to go. They are well prepared for the challenge that awaits them in Moscow," the Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) chairman Mwangi Muthee told a news conference.

"We are going there to participate, and our intention is to win the cup. We are capable of doing that.

"Kenya is not a professional team like South Africa, Australia and England. It is very interesting to see an amateur team taking on the world," said Muthee.

The players will travel to Moscow from a two-week training camp in England.

Kenya is in Group C alongside the 2009/10 IRB world series champions Samoa, Philippines and Zimbabwe.

Kenya Sevens squad: Andrew Amonde (captain), Collins Injera, Humphrey Kayange, Lavin Asego, Biko Adema, Horace Otieno, Patrice Agunda, William Ambaka, Felix Ayange, Michael Wanjala, Eden Agero, Oscar Ouma.
