Taliauli: From League to Sevens

Former Rugby League player Lausii Taliauli is set to make his World Sevens Series debut after being added to the Australia squad for the Glasgow leg this weekend.

Australia head coach Michael O'Connor made the late change to his squad after Taliauli was declared fit by the Australian Rugby Union medical staff.

O'Connor said: "Lausii is a good player with a bit of size about him who is very motivated to play.

"I'm looking forward to seeing him in action."

The New Zealand-born 20-year-old, who is 192cm tall, represented the Gold Coast Titans in Rugby League before deciding to switch to Rugby.

Australia will face Scotland, Spain and the USA in Pool D in Glasgow.

Experienced Sevens campaigner James Stannard has dropped out of the Australian squad.

Revised Australia Sevens squad for the 2013/2014 Sevens World Series tournament in Glasgow:

Ed Jenkins, Con Foley, Jesse Parahi, Sam Myers, Paul Asquith, Peter Schuster, Greg Jeloudev, Cameron Clark, Lausii Taliauli, Nick Malouf, Tom Lucas, Afa Pakalani.
