Roberts: Wales can win Triple Crown

Wales will arrive at Twickenham believing that they can defeat England and claim the Triple Crown, according to centre Jamie Roberts.

After impressive victories over Ireland and Scotland in the opening two weeks of the Six Nations, Wales will look to put themselves in pole position to claim the title with victory in England’s back yard.

History is against Warren Gatland’s side as Wales have never won a Triple Crown at Twickenham and it would require a rare victory on English soil to do so.

But Roberts, who has carried on his superb form from the World Cup in this year’s Six Nations, insists Wales’ only aim is victory.

“If we take our ‘A’ game down to Twickenham then I certainly think we can turn them over. It is all about producing the goods on the day,” Roberts told Sportsbeat.

“If we do that, we win a Triple Crown, which is a pretty special feeling. The boys do not need any motivation.

“From players, to fans, to family, Wales v England is always the big one. All fans across England and Wales will be watching the game with huge anticipation.

“To play in it is such a special feeling, be that at the Millennium Stadium or Twickenham.

“To beat England away from home is one of those feelings in rugby that a lot of us players aim for, not just for bragging rights.

“It is a place where we haven’t won many times over the past couple of decades and it is a very tough place to go and win.

“2008 is obviously one that sticks in the memory so we just need to repeat that. It would be massively special.”
