The evolution of Wales

Jones has captain the Wales side five times to date and has replaced fellow teammate Sam Warburton as the sides' leading man.

He said: "I've had a fleeting experience in the few caps I've had but to be named is very special for me.

"But it's not the passing of the baton, it's the evolution of the team. I'm fortunate enough that quite a few guys in the team will know my pros and cons, hopefully less cons.

"If I feel I need to change anything then I'm not doing the right job. So it's very much continuing in the same vein."

Wales will be without head coach Warren Gatland, who will lead the British & Irish Lions in 2017, but having won the Championship four years ago under Rob Howley, Jones is confident the team can perform under him once more.

He added: "We're in a pretty decent place. It was a positive autumn, you can always do better but we've got a sprinkling of new caps who will add some energy and young blood to the squad.

"With regards to Gats being away, it's something we've experienced before so it's over to Rob and up to us to crack on."
