Jaguares 'finish with a smile'

The Argentinian side finished their campaign with a 34-22 win over a second-string Lions side in Buenos Aires on Saturday and although they did not live up to many fans’ expectations this season, Leguizamón feels they achieved a lot.

Jaguares 'finish with a smile'"We are happy to finish with a smile, but there is much to work on and we need to grow," said Leguizamón. "It is the end of a very good first season in terms of learning.

"Playing in this tournament was something we dreamed of, but we also need to grow and continue to improve."

Leguizamón said their second half performance against the Lions paved the way for victory.

"In the second half we put them under more pressure. Our tackles were stronger and firmer and were able to stop them.

"They [Lions] are very rich in players and their system is very strong in attack

"Luckily we were able to stop them by getting more possession and executing well."

With their Super Rugby campaign now done and dusted, lock Guido Petti said they will carry the momentum from their win against the Lions into this year’s Rugby Championship where they will represent Argentina.

"Today [Saturday] we were able to impose our game on them and dominate in contact areas," said Petti

"This gives us a very big platform to carry the momentum through the remainder of the year."
