Hunt: The light is at the end of the tunnel

The Reds have been hard at work in the Queensland heat during the current pre-season and Hunt and his teammates are eager to get some game time.

"It is that time of the year when the training shifts from running and physicality to a more football-based style," Hunt told reporters in Brisbane.

"The boys are feeling the pinch because it has been quite a hectic summer up here with the heat and obviously the workload that [head coach Nick] Styles has got us under. But the footy is around the corner so things are starting to get a bit more exciting for us. The light is at the end of the tunnel, so to speak."

The Reds will shake off some pre-season cobwebs when they participate in the inaugural Brisbane Global Tens next weekend. However, Hunt said their primary focus has been on the XV-man game so far.

"It has been purely Super Rugby focussed – getting our conditioning up to speed," Hunt added.

"We have been spending a lot of time in the weights room and on the field, it has been just XV on XV.

"I would imagine next week we will talk about how we will modify our game. I don't think there will be any drastic changes –  I think our micro plays will be quite similar to what we will use throughout the season."
