Bulls' prop faces ban

The Bulls had a magnificent first half which saw them take a 28-14 advantage at the break. However, similar to last weekend's performance against the Reds, the South Africans failed to score any points in the second stanza.

To make matters worse, the Bulls also went down to 14 men in the 67th-minute when referee Shuhei Kubo, issued a yellow card to Van Vuuren for his dangerous swinging arm tackle on Chiefs' fullback Damian McKenzie.

In Van Vuuren's absence, Chiefs scored two tries and eventually recorded a 41-28 win – denying the South Africans a losing bonus-point.

Van Vuuren's tackle on McKenzie contravened Law 9.13 – a player must not tackle an opponent early, late or dangerously.

And upon further review of the match footage, the Citing Commissioner deemed in his opinion the incident had met the Red Card threshold for foul play.

The Case is to be considered in the first instance by the SANZAAR Foul Play Review Committee which will take place on Sunday, March 18 via video-conference.
