Another week without Lambie?

The Sharks are almost certain to travel to Cape Town this week without their star Springbok Patrick Lambie.

The Sharks will take on the Stormers in an all-South African Super Rugby semifinal at Newlands on Saturday.

Sharks coach John Plumtree confirmed that it is unlikely Lambie will recover from the ankle injury that ruled him out of their impressive 30-17 win over the Reds in a first round play-off match in Brisbane at the weekend.

Lambie aggravated the injury in a league fixture against the Cheetahs earlier this month.

Lambie, who featured at fullback against the Cheetahs, first picked up an ankle injury during South Africa's series-clinching second Test win over England last month.

The 21-year-old worked his way back to full fitness, but lasted about an hour in the encounter with the Cheetahs before crying off again.

"The news is not that good regarding Patrick, as he is still struggling and is unlikely to play," Plumtree told the media in Durban.

It is almost  certain that Louis Ludik will continue at fullback in the absence of Lambie.

The news on centre Paul Jordaan, who appears to be suffering from something of a chronic hamstring problem, is far more positive.

The Baby Bok and Bok Sevens star was replaced by Meyer Bosman early in the second half in Brisbane, but Plumtree is confident he should be fit enough to partner Tim Whitehead in the midfield at Newlands.

The Sharks will also still be without Springbok stalwart Frans Steyn, who is ineligible for the play-offs after only joining the Durban franchise in July.
