Bad-boy Cooper will know Monday
The defending champion Reds will know on Monday if their Wallaby playmaker Quade Cooper will be available for the Super Rugby play-offs.
Cooper will face a SANZAR judicial hearing, chaired by Paul Tully, after he was yellow carded for a vicious head-high tackle on Wallaby teammate Berrick Barnes in the Reds' 32-16 win over the Waratahs at the weekend.
The Wallaby and Reds flyhalf is charged with having contravened Law 10.4 (e): Dangerous Tackling – when he put out a stiff arm, also know as a coathanger, making contact with Barnes' neck and flooring the Waratahs centre.
Barnes was forced to leave the field, after being treated by medics, and could not complete the match.
The incident occurred in the 63rd minute of the match in Brisbane at he weekend.
The referee, Steve Walsh, issued a yellow and white cards for the incident.
He was cited and upon further review of the match footage the citing commissioner deemed in his opinion the incident had met the red card threshold for foul play
The judicial officer, Davidson, decided that Cooper must appear at a SANZAR judicial hearing.
The hearing, to be chaired by Tully, will be held by video conference on Monday.
If he is found guilty and banned, he will be ruled out of the Reds' first-round play-off match against the Sharks in Brisbane on Saturday.
The winner will advance to take on the Chiefs in Hamilton in the semifinal the following week.
