Bok prop joins Stormers tour squad
Springbok prop Deon Carstens has been added to the Stormers’ 26-man squad for their four-match Australasian tour.
Carstens, who signed with the Stormers from English Premiership champions Saracens in the off season, has not featured in the table-topping Stormers team in the first six weeks of the competition.
The 22 players who featured in the thrilling 20-17 win over the Bulls at Newlands on Saturday will all depart with the team on Sunday – as they head to New Zealand, via Sydney.
The four names added to that to make up the squad are Carstens, Siyabonga Ntubeni, Nizaam Carr and JP du Plessis.
The Stormers start the very difficult road trip when they tackle the New Zealand conference leaders the Highlanders in Dunedin this coming Saturday – followed by encounters with the Crusaders in Christchurch, the Reds in Brisbane and the Western Force in Perth.
