TRANSFER NEWS: Brumbies Flank Jahrome Brown has signed a two-year contract for 2020 and 2021 with the club following his rapid rise up the Super Rugby ranks this season.

Brown extends his stay with Australia’s most successful franchise having impressed in both starting and replacement roles since joining the squad as a replacement player earlier in 2019.

The 22-year-old’s re-signing comes after fellow Brumbies backrowers Tom Cusack, Lachlan McCaffrey, Rob Valetini and Wallaby Scott Sio also re-committed their future to the club.

“I am honoured to have signed a new contract with the Brumbies, and to be staying in Canberra for the next two years,” Brown said of his new deal.

“The Brumbies gave me a chance to play Super Rugby and I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to continue my progress with such an amazing club.”

“When (Brumbies GM Professional Rugby & Pathways) Chris Tindall and Dan invited me over, I didn’t expect to play so to have been selected to play over this past couple of months and to be able to contribute to winning here as well is incredible.

“I already feel at home here and the Canberra community have been really supportive, as well as the boys at the club who have accepted me into this tight-knit group we have at the Brumbies.

Brumbies Head Coach Dan McKellar praised Brown’s work ethic and ability to adapt quickly to Super Rugby.

“Jahrome is another one of those great Brumbies stories, where someone gets an opportunity and takes it, “ McKellar said.

“Full credit to Jahrome, when he turned up pre-Christmas he showed up in really good condition. He was fit and ready to take the opportunity. As coaches that were really pleasing because it showed that he’s a player who trains hard, prepares well and was serious about playing Super Rugby.

“Immediately he was in a position to get better and improve as a player. The longer he’s spent here the more he’s familiarised himself with how the Brumbies play, and he’s picked it up really quickly. He’s been a very good find for us and now that he is in a fulltime professional program I see a really bright future for Jahrome.”
