Brumbies bring in reinforcements
SQUAD UPDATE: Hooker Maile Ngauamo and prop Angus Wagner have joined the Brumbies squad as injury replacements for the rest of the 2019 Super Rugby season.
Ngauamo, who recently played for the Brumby Runners in their match against the Japan A Wolf Pack at GIO Stadium, replaces Josh Mann-Rea as he recuperates from the knee injury suffered in the win over the Stormers in Cape Town.
“I am excited by the prospect of joining the Brumbies for the remainder of the season and look forward to playing my part,” Ngauamo said of the announcement.
“The team have given me an opportunity to play professional rugby and I am aiming to repay the faith shown in me by Dan McKellar and the coaching staff by learning and contributing as much as I can.”
The former Australian Schools and Australian Under-20 rake has been playing his rugby for GPS in Queensland where his physicality as a defender and ball carrier has stood-out.
Ngauamo has joined training with the Brumbies squad ahead of this weekend’s clash with the Bulls from South Africa.
Prop Wagner meanwhile has graduated from the Brumbies Academy having prepared with the Brumbies squad throughout the pre-season and playing apart in the Brumbies Runners matches throughout 2019. Wagner comes in as an injury replacement for Vunipola Fifita who has a calf injury.
