Brumbies lose their CEO

 

Edwards has external business interests to the Brumbies which will see him return to Queensland. 

 

Edwards will remain with the Brumbies until his replacement has been appointed and is working in the role. The search for a replacement is already underway and has turned up several positive leads.   

 

“It is with a heavy heart that I tender my resignation from the Brumbies. It’s been one of the most exciting years of my career, but with so much happening off the field for me personally I won’t be able to continue on with my role as CEO,” Edwards said. 

 

“I have informed the Board that I’m happy to stay here for as long as is needed until my replacement has settled in.

 

“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved with the Brumbies for the fantastic support you have given me this year, this really is a great place to work.”

 

Brumbies Chairman Sean Hammond said he was confident the club would have a replacement for Edwards soon. 

 

“Doug has given 10 years of service to the Brumbies and it was fantastic to have him step up into the role of CEO almost 18 months ago,” Hammond said. 

 

“In that time Doug oversaw the club's move into its new home at the University of Canberra, the re-signing of 16 players and the coaching restructure which now sees Steve Larkham as the Head Coach.

 

“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Doug for all he has done for the Brumbies.”
