Bulls dust off kicking boots

The Bulls concluded a kicking camp outside of Pretoria on Tuesday, with High Performance Manager Xander Janse van Rensburg expressing his satisfaction on the outcome.

All tactical kickers from all the Bulls teams attended the two-day camp where a lot of focus and detail went into the various aspects of tactical kicking.

All scrumhalves, flyhalves and fullbacks joined with amongst others, coaches Frans Ludeke, Pieter Rossouw and Vlok Cilliers, who provided detail on the execution and philosophies of kicking patterns.

“This really worked well. The Under-19 and Under-21 kickers were grouped with the senior players in their positions, who also acted in a mentor role over the two days.

"This provided the younger players with a unique opportunity to learn first hand from the likes of incumbent Springboks like Francois Hougaard, Mornè Steyn and Zane Kirchner,” Janse van Rensburg explained.

“They could talk through, walk through and execute the various kicking gameplans and options and everyone learned a lot from this. We will certainly be looking to do something similar again.”

There was also a fun and team-building element to the camp, with snake handling providing a lot of laughs.

The Bulls will play their first warm-up match against the Lions on February 2 in Orlando Stadium, Soweto.
