According to the Bulls, De Villiers chatted about culture in a team environment with head coach Nollis Marais and the franchise's High Performance Manager.

Owen Eastwood, an advisor to the Proteas cricket team, also chatted to the Bulls squad and management about team culture.

"It happens quite often that the Blue Bulls Company (Pty) engage consultants to assist the various coaching staffs and management where requested," said BBC Chief Executive Officer Barend van Graan.

"We have used various consultants where needed and upon request from our coaching staff. This is nothing new and our head coach and High Performance Manager has initiated a number of visits by consultants to advise and assist."

The Bulls have only won one of their five matches so far and are currently 17 points behind leaders Stormers in the Africa Conference One standings.
