Bulls 'not accurate enough' - Marais
Maraisalso revealed that although there were a number of situations in which the Bulls could have done better, he was impressed with how his charges came back.
"I think at certain stages we didn't let the ball do the work and we insisted on playing individually and afterwards we just decided to stick to our structures and to let the ball do the work," said Marais.
"We did better and better and got out of the pressure situations and that was good, but we weren't accurate enough.
This weekend will be the Bulls' second bye and Marais' side have a tough competition remaining, with clashes against the Lions and Stormers awaiting when the Pretoria-based oufit returns to South Africa.
This of course adds pressure to perform Down Under, as the Bulls will have to secure enough points during their three-match tour to remain safe and keep their title hopes adrift should they lose to the Lions or Stormers.
"It's going to be a challenge," Marais admitted.
"I would've liked a bye after the tour, but we face the Stormers when we get back, which is going to be a challenge.
"Somewhere during the tour we're going to have to decide who should be rested and who should play where."
The Bulls will have one week off before heading to Australia and leader Adriaan Strauss is appreciative of the break.
"It'll always be tough touring, but we're just going to enjoy our off-week," said the 30-year-old skipper.
The Bok hooker also added that the thought of their processes falling into place and coming off a win (against the Reds) will boost their momentum heading into the tour.
"We're excited and it's good to tour after a win, it's good to go on such a high note."
"It'll be a different challenge playing overseas, so start from scratch every week and try not to get ahead of ourselves.
The Bulls have escaped any serious damage against the Reds this past weekend.
Burger Odendaal and Warrick Gelant, who are on the long-term injury list, are both making steady progress with their chronic injuries, while Handre Pollard's rehabilitation is on par.
The Bulls have their entire squad availabe for selection for the tour Down Under, with no injuries sustained during Saturday's game.
