Bulls sweating on Bok hooker
INJURY UPDATE: The Bulls have delayed a decision on the availability of veteran Springbok hooker Schalk Brits.
Brits pulled up with a calf strain and left the field in the first half of the 40-3 win over the Stormers in Pretoria at the weekend.
The Pretoria outfit will travel to Buenos Aires for their next game, against the Jaguares on Saturday.
Bulls team doctor Herman Rossouw said Brits ‘looked good’ on Monday and will be monitored this week.
“A call on his availability for the encounter with the Jaguares will be made later in the week,” Rossouw said.
The team doctor said there was nothing other than a ‘few minor bumps and bruises’ from the big win over the Stormers.
Hooker Jaco Visagie (recovering from ankle surgery, after returning from a loan spell with Gloucester in England) and No.8 Jano Venter masking good progress with their rehabilitation.
Both will start to run at selected sessions this week.
Roelof Smit has completed his rehabilitation and will start training with the team when they return from Argentina next week.
The Bulls will look to follow up their impressive opening round win with an equally composed performance in Buenos Aires.
