Butler knocking on Brumbies door
Former Reds flank Jarrad Butler has joined the Brumbies and will look to challenge for a spot in their starting line-up next season.
The Brumbies have started pre-season with a good mix of old and new faces ready to challenge themselves over the next three months.
In all, the Brumbies will have 37 players on deck for pre-season. A group from Canberra's local Cup competition has stepped up to fill permanent positions left by the team's nine Wallabies, while several other train-on players are in town hoping to impress before Christmas.
In Canberra for their first pre-seasons in many years will be Pat McCabe and David Pocock, while new signing Butler is also expecting a big few months adjusting to life as a Brumby.
Butler said he was looking forward to the challenge.
"Starting at a new club has presented me with a different set of challenges heading into pre-season and it's something I'm quite excited about," Butler said.
"The next three months will be about improving all aspects of my own game and making sure I'm in top physical and mental shape by the time we start playing games.
"I've had a good break from rugby, the Reds stopped playing in July so it's nice to be back into training and being in a team environment," he added.
A former Queensland junior who cut his teeth in Super Rugby with 12 Reds rugby caps, Butler will be looking to impress Brumbies coaches during pre-season as he trains alongside other flankers like Pocock and Fotu Auelua.
