Chiefs lure Sevens star
The Chiefs added two more players to their squad for 2015, with the signing of Tasman wing Bryce Heem and Auckland loose forward Sean Polwart.
New Zealand Sevens star Heem will join several of his Tasman teammates at the Chiefs next year.
Chiefs coach Dave Rennie views the strong wing's huge workrate off the ball as a major asset to his team.
"Bryce has been knocking on the door for Super Rugby for a while," Rennie said.
"He has had an impressive NPc season with Tasman and his size, pace and skillset are very appealing to us."
The 25-year-old Heem said he made the move because he felt the Chiefs will suit his personality.
The former New Zealand Barbarian has played NPC for Northland and represented Auckland Under-20.
Pukekohe-born loose forward Polwart is set to re-connect with his former New Zealand U20 coaches, having won the IRB Junior Championship under Dave Rennie in 2010.
"Sean is a top young man who has been strong for Auckland this season," Rennie said.
"We were impressed with Sean when he spent some time with us earlier this year. He has a huge work ethic, is great post tackle and compliments our loose forwards perfectly," the coach added.
The 24-year-old Polwart said he is really impressed by the Chiefs set-up.
"I believe that I will benefit strongly from the coaching and their environment."
Polwart made his Super Rugby debut for the Blues in 2011 and played age group rugby for Auckland. He is currently in his fifth NPC season with Auckland.
The Chiefs have made the play-offs for the last three years and won the Super Rugby title in 2012 and 2013.
The full Chiefs squad – including the wider training group – is expected to be announced on Wednesday, October 29 – with the squad assembling on Thursday, November 27.
