Comeback king Brumbies' best

George Smith won his 10th Brett Robinson Player's Player award on Saturday night at the Brumbies end-of-season Presentation Night.

In his final season with the Brumbies, Smith extended his already massive record on the trophy to 10.

"I see this team going a long way in the future, not just in terms of winning championships but in inspiring the next generation of Brumbies to come through," Smith said.

"This club means a great deal to me as do the people of Canberra and the broader Canberra community. I was happy to be asked to come back and it's been a pleasure to be a part of this team."

This is the 10th occasion Smith has won the Brett Robinson Player’s Player Award, the last occasion being in 2010. Smith is the club’s most capped player with 142 appearances.

Christian Lealiifano

(2012 winner: Christian Lealiifano)

Lealiifano goes back-to-back for the club’s best back in 2013 after securing the award in 2012. He had his most productive season yet with a Wallaby debut and vice-captaincy of the Brumbies.

Best Forward

Ben Mowen

(2012 winner: Michael Hooper)

The Brumbies captain had a breakthrough year in 2013 featuring in all but one game for the club and starting each Test for the Wallabies during the British and Irish Lions series.

Shawn Mackay Award for Most Outstanding New Talent

Tevita Kuridrani

(2012 winner: Joe Tomane)

After appearing in a handful of games during the 2012 Super Rugby season, Kuridrani has forced his way into the starting 13 jersey and is now a part of Ewen McKenzie’s Wallaby squad. Big, fast and physical, Kuridrani has a big future in professional rugby.

ActewAGL Community Award

Jesse Mogg

(2012 winner: Scott Fardy)

As one of the Brumbies’ most civic-minded players, Mogg is often seen helping out at charity events in his own time. Mogg was also a key contributor to the Baulderstone Buddy a Brumby and ActewAGL Country Visit campaigns.

Garry Quinlivan Award

Brian Gibson

(2012 winner: David McDonald)

With the Brumbies widely regarded as one of the competition’s fittest sides, much of the credit can be directed towards the club’s chef, Brian Gibson. Working up to 80 hours a week, Gibson is an essential part of the Brumbies make-up.
