The Bulls confirmed that Kriel suffered an ankle ligament injury during the narrow 23-24 defeat to Stormers.

As a result, he requires surgery and is expected to return to play in for six to eight weeks.

The three-time Super Rugby Champions’ trip to Cape Town proved to be a hard knock on the team as they will also be without the services of Divan Rossouw and Jade Stighling.

Wings Rossouw and Stighling left the field with concussion and despite Rossouw passing his initial Head Injury Assessment, the 23-year-old was declared unfit to play this weekend.

This means the duo will miss Saturday’s Round 12 clash against the Waratahs.
