De Jager blow for the Cheetahs
The Cheetahs suffered a major setback when it was revealed that Springbok lock Lodewyk de Jager will miss between six and eight weeks due to an elbow injury.
De Jager sustained the injury during the early stages of the Bloemfontein-based franchise's 35-29 victory over the Sharks in Durban.
The good news is that he did not fracture the elbow and the injury has been alleviated due to the fact that the Cheetahs have a bye this weekend.
Their next match is against the Blues in Bloemfontein in Round Three on Friday, February 27.
The Cheetahs have been boosted by the news that flank Heinrich Brussow and centre Johan Sadie are set to play after returning from Japan while utility back Ryno Benjamin is also available for selection as he is due back after a stint with the South African Sevens side.
