Deysel in as Coetzee's season comes to an end
Deysel comes in for flank Marcell Coetzee, who may already gave made his last appearance for the Sharks.
Coetzee, who will join Irish province Ulster at the conclusion of the 2016 Super Rugby season, has reportedly suffered a season-ending knee injury in the 9-24 loss to the Lions in Durban at the weekend.
The Sharks confirmed that Coetzee is out of the trip that will see them play the Blues, Highlanders and Chiefs on consecutive weekends.
However, they stopped short of confirming that his season had come to an end – just saying information on the injury will be released in due course.
The flank left the field on the half-hour mark of the Sharks' loss to the Lions at Kings Park.
After six matches – three of them at home and three away – the Sharks are desperate to get their campaign back on track.
Included in the 27-man squad are front row forwards Chiliboy Ralepelle, Dale Chadwick and Thomas du Toit – all of whom have not yet had a taste of Super Rugby this season.
They are three of the 16 forwards named to tour, with Director of Rugby Gary Gold and his coaching staff adding 11 backs to the squad.
Gold has stuck, by and large, to the group that has done duty in Super Rugby to date – with only reserve prop Juan Schoeman and lock Lubabalo Mtyanda omitted.
Lock Stephan Lewies, who was withdrawn just before the Lions game, will also be on the plane.
Sharks squad:
Forwards: Tendai Mtawarira (captain), Dale Chadwick, Coenie Oosthuizen, Lourens Adriaanse, Thomas du Toit, Franco Marais, Chiliboy Ralepelle, Kyle Cooper, Jean Deysel, Etienne Oosthuizen, Stephan Lewies, Hyron Andrews, Jean-Luc du Preez, Daniel du Preez, Philip van der Walt, Keegan Daniel.
Backs: Cobus Reinach, Michael Claassens, Joe Pietersen, Garth April, Lwazi Mvovo, JP Pietersen, Odwa Ndungane, Andre Esterhuizen, Paul Jordaan, Willie le Roux, Sibusiso Sithole.
Jean Deysel replaces Marcell Coetzee in the @CellC Sharks tour squad. More information on Marcell's injury will be released in due course.
