Discipline still an issue for Jaguares

With the Stormers holding a narrow lead on the scoreboard going into the last quarter, the Argentinians picked up two yellow cards within a minute after each for repeated infringements.

Despite going down to 13 men, the Jaguares managed to stay in touch with the Cape side with some determined play, but head coach Raul Perez was left wondering what could have been if his side had 15 players on the field during that crucial period of play.

"It [discipline] is something we are working on since the first day of the season and it is something we are still improving on," Perez told reporters after the match.

"We think that discipline is a habit and we have to work on it, on and off the field.

"Last year we suffered a lot because of our ill-discipline and that's why we have to continue working on that in an effort to improve."

The Jaguares managed to score crucial try via Santiago Cordero while they were down to 13 men, which is something that Perez was proud of.

"That [try] showed the character of our team – that playing with 13 players we can get a try, but it [discipline] is still something we have to work on," he added.

After what he has witnessed so far in 2017, Perez sees a bright future for South African sides in the competition.

"I think the South African teams have improved a lot.

"The Lions are always a candidate, but the Stormers and Cheetahs have improved a lot. I think it will be a really hard season compared to last year," said Perez.
