Du Plessis blow for Stormers
Stormers centre Daniel du Plessis has been ruled out of the clash with the Southern Kings this coming Saturday at Newlands because of concussion.
Du Plessis was the only casualty from the bonus-point win against the Force in Perth.
However, his injury came at an inopportune time, as the encounter with the Kings is just a week away from the play-offs and he will be in a race against time to be ready for that.
Props Frans Malherbe (neck injury), JC Janse van Rensburg (knee injury) and Oliver Kebble (knee injury) will all return to training this week – with a call on their availability to face the Kings to be made later in the week.
Flank Nizaam Carr will also be assessed during the week, after having injured his shoulder in the win against the Rebels in Melbourne.
The Stormers overcame a slow start to grind out a win over the troubled Force in slippery conditions.
The Stormers have won three on the trot and nine of 14 matches this season.
The Stormers, having qualified for the play-offs as winners of the Africa One conference, were under siege early and spent almost the entire first 30 minutes camped in their defensive half as the Force dominated possession and looked set to score the game's opening try on several occasions.
Despite the scrappy nature of the match, Stormers captain Schalk Burger was satisfied with the result.
"At stages we had good intensity," he said.
"We're pleased with the team's performance, it was a good tour for us.
Force captain Luke Morahan said his side wasn't consistent enough.
"The first 35 minutes was really good," he said. "In the second half there were good bits, but not enough."
