Duane: It's just a stinger
Stormers captain Duane Vermeulen allayed fears that his early departure from the scene at Newlands at the weekend could result in a long-term injury.
Vermeulen left the field midway through the second half of his team's 25-24 Super Rugby win over the Brumbies, with what appeared to be an injury in the neck/shoulder area.
However, he told a post-match media briefing that it is "not serious".
"It is not my shoulder," Vermeulen said.
"It is half on the 'trap' [trapezius muscle] and then it runs into my neck – it is more facet joints, C4 and C5.
"It's a stinger that ran down into my neck and into my shoulder – it is fine," he said, adding that it can be resolved with rest.
"You must swallow a few pills, that's all," the burly Springbok quipped.
The Stormers have a bye this week, which will give the No.8 time to recover – before they conclude their season with encounters against the Rebels (at Newlands), Cheetahs (in Cape Town), Lions (Newlands) and Sharks (Durban).
