Expansive Brumbies ready for Tahs challenge
The Brumbies will take on the Waratahs in a crunch Australia derby in Canberra on Friday.
Brumbies back row forward Jarrad Butler, who will play his 50th Super Rugby game if he takes to the field against the Tahs, said that after the Brumbies big (52-10) victory against the Hurricanes last Friday there had been a really positive vibe around the group.
"Everyone was really pleased with being able to execute the game plan," Butler said.
"We played some really expansive and I guess fun footy.
"I think people could sense that while we were out there we were really enjoying ourselves and hopefully we can continue that."
Butler said the side was facing a tough challenge this week against the Waratahs.
"The last couple of years the Waratahs have probably got the better of us," Butler said.
"They're a really good team.
"We've just got to focus on our game and work on some things from last week, continue to play expansive footy and hopefully we can go well."
In contrast the Waratahs have paid a dear price for their 30-10 over the Reds at the weekend, with Wallaby prop Benn Robinson in "serious doubt".
The good news is that playmaker Kurtley Beale has been cleared of concussion symptoms.
Beale copped a knock in the second half against the Reds after a stirring performance at No.10
He was brought from the field to be assessed by medical staff, but according to coach Daryl Gibson, Beale will train with the team as per normal.
For Robinson, his concussion symptoms have been more severe that Beale's, meaning he will be monitored carefully in the coming days.
Even if he is cleared from concussion, a broken nose will most certainly put him out of action for an extended period.
