Fleck: No pressure from Scotland over Jones
Jones, who has been an integral part of Scotland's Six Nations campaign so far, returned to Cape Town this week and was available to the Stormers if they needed him, especially after Damian de Allende's injury.
Instead, Dan Kriel was included in the starting XV with Jones being left out of the matchday 23.
"Huw Jones did join us this week," said Fleck.
"He flew in on Monday afternoon. He trained with us on Tuesday and he was available for selection, but we decided for continuity with the team.
"Huw has got a massive game next weekend against England, which is a Six Nations decider and to be fair to him he has got his mind on that big game.
"For the sake of the team and for continuity, it was only right that Dan Kriel played centre.
"There was absolutely no pressure from Scotland at all. We have been in great communication with them throughout this whole process. Huw is also suffering. He did not train today [Thursday] because he has got a bit of flu as well, so it actually worked out."
The Stormers started their Super Rugby campaign with an impressive 37-24 win over the Bulls at Newlands, but they are expecting a totally different challenge from the Jaguares.
"It's totally different because they run the ball all day and they got all sorts of things coming our way," said Stormers captain Siyamthanda Kolisi. "They got good steppers and they got quick guys.
"Last week was purely straight and straight, so we got to expect everything this week."
Fleck agreed with his captain's observation of the Jaguares' style.
"They certainly have evolved," added Fleck. "Last year – the Argentinians as a nation – their rugby has improved incredibly well and they just got certain ways they want to play.
"With the Pumas, they are a little more structured and they got a good game, whereas the Jaguares just has the licence to play and they just want to keep ball in hand.
"From my understanding from that, they are trying to develop their rugby game and trying to take it to a new level and they certainly can."
