Folau plans to commit to Union

League convert Israel Folau plans to extend his Rugby Union career in his bid to represent the Wallabies.

Folau has been a revelation for the Waratahs in his debut season in Rugby Union, causing defences headaches with his attacking flair and sublime ball skills.

With calls for his inclusion in the Wallaby squad for the British and Irish Lions series increasing, Folau produced a man of the match performance as the Waratahs cantered to a record 72-10 win over the Southern Kings in Port Elizabeth on Saturday.

Wallaby coach Robbie Deans this week said Folau could become "an absolute legend" if he agreed to stay in his adopted game and the 24-year-old is seemingly willing to oblige.

"I'm really enjoying my rugby at the moment and I'd like to stay long term and give it a good crack so we'll see how we go," Folau said after Saturday’s 11-try thumping of the Super Rugby newcomers.

"Obviously I feel really good after that game, I thought our team performance was really good," said Folau.

"I'm just learning each week as we go and the boys and the coaching staff are just giving me those tips so I'm grateful we have a good coach and a good bunch of boys to help me out," he added.
