Force prepares for trial match against Brumbies
TRIAL MATCH: The Western Force continue their preparations for the Super Rugby season in a trial match against the ACT Brumbies in Canberra on February 6.
With Ireland great Rob Kearney arriving at the Force alongside Argentinian stars Tomás Cubelli, Santiago Medrano, Tomás Lezana and Domingo Miotti, as well as former Brumby Toni Pulu and Junior Wallabies Jack Winchester and Bo Abra, the squad is firmly taking shape.
The match also provides a first opportunity for Wallabies recruits Tevita Kuridrani and Tom Robertson to potentially take to the field in Force colours.
Having taken out the Super Rugby AU title last year, the Brumbies will provide a stern test for the Force, who face off against the capital side in the season opener at HBF Park on February 19.
The pre-season hit-out will include three 30 minute periods and marks the first competitive action for the squad in 2021.
Head of rugby Matt Hodgson is looking forward to seeing the new recruits in action.
“The squad has been training extremely hard and last recent pre-season camp provided the perfect platform for the team to gel,” Hodgson said.
“The players are raring to go and can’t wait to play together ahead of Round 1.”
