Fourie packs for Lyon

Stormers hooker Deon Fourie has signed a two-year deal with French Top 14 side Lyon and will leave at the end of the Super Rugby season.

The Western Province skipper, who is equally at home as an openside flank, joins the French side after their recent promotion back to the top flight in France.

Fourie led Western Province to the Currie Cup title in 2012, but will miss the competition this year as he becomes the latest South African player to move to France.

The dynamic forward was linked to a move to France a few years ago, and has made the move after featuring mainly at hooker for an injury-hit Stormers side this year.

"I am excited to join Lyon, who have big ambitions in the Top 14 next season. I'm sure this is only the beginning of a long and successful collaboration," he said in an official statement from the club.
