Gold wants teams to fear Shark Tank again

The Durban-based team are looking to build up a head of steam in this year's Super Rugby tournament after their 43-8 win over the Kings on Round One and Gold believes that they are going to need an impeccable record at home if they are going to do it.

"Over the years the Sharks have had a good record at Kings Park and it is important that we start to re-establish that again and make this a difficult place to come and play," said Gold at a press conference in Durban on Thursday.

"It's important for us to not only win at home, but also to impress our supporters who come here and support us.

Gold wants teams to fear Shark Tank again"It's early days in the competition and you want to start getting a little traction, you want to start putting a couple of wins together and you want to get a bit of a run going."

The Jaguares started their debut Super Rugby season with a 34-33 win over the Cheetahs last week and Gold said they will be treating the match as if it was a Test match.

"You are talking about ten to 12 guys who have been at a World Cup and part of a team that got to the semifinal of a World Cup," said Gold.

"These guys are the real deal. They play with a real intensity, they play with an incredible freedom and they will hurt you from an attacking point of view.

"They got some great players in the spine of their team with the likes of [Agustin] Creevy, Pablo Matera, and [Leonardo] Senatore and then their No.9, No.10 and No.15 are world class players as well.

"If you are a little bit off your game, before you know it you are going to be chasing your tail. Defensively, they are ferocious at the breakdown, not necessary always legal, but they are very good at the breakdown. "We are preparing for this in the fashion of a Test match."

Gold said they will be careful not to give the Jaguares too much space to work with on Saturday.

"Our defensive effort last week probably won't be good enough, so we have to step it up. They are going to ask a lot of questions of us defensively.

"I think we have to be careful about the kind of ball we give them. If we kick the wrong ball away and hand them possession then we will be defending for a very long time.

"Conversely, if we are playing too much rugby in the wrong areas of the field, we will also have a long day at the office.

"It's going to be a fun game of chess tomorrow," he added.
