Horwill blow for Reds
Queensland Reds prop James Slipper will now captain the Reds in Friday's Super Rugby trial match against the Chiefs on the Sunshine Coast.
Regular skipper James Horwill was a late withdrawal from the game.
The Reds lock rolled his ankle during a heavy contact session on Tuesday and has reluctantly been withdrawn following the advice of medical staff on Wednesday.
Horwill will continue to train with the team from next week, when a decision will be made on his availability for the Reds Super Rugby season opener against the Brumbies in Canberra next Saturday, February 16.
Slipper will take over the captaincy duties for Friday's trial against the Chiefs, with centre Ben Tapuai chosen as the team's vice-captain.
